The vegetable market opens before the city is fully awake. By six o'clock the first carts are already in place, and the sellers are arranging their goods in neat heaps: tomatoes on one side, onions in a wide basket, and bunches of coriander kept fresh under a damp cloth. Buyers arrive slowly at first. An old man walks from cart to cart, pressing each brinjal gently before he chooses one. A young woman with a cloth bag asks for half a kilo of beans and then, after a short discussion, agrees on a price that pleases both sides. Nobody is in a hurry yet. The sellers call out to regular customers by name and ask about their families. By nine o'clock the crowd has doubled, the voices are louder, and the best spinach is gone. Those who came early walk home with the freshest greens and the quiet satisfaction of a task done well.

Press space after each word. Backspace is allowed. Pasting is switched off. Words are compared after Unicode NFC normalisation, so different keyboards that produce the same letters score the same.

How your score is worked out

Gross WPM

Characters in every word you typed, counting one space after each word, divided by 5, divided by minutes.

Net WPM

The same count, but only for words typed exactly right. One wrong letter means the whole word earns nothing.

Accuracy

Net characters as a percentage of gross characters. Missed words are listed separately in your result.

Why 5 characters? The SSC CHSL 2026 notice equates 35 words per minute with about 10,500 key depressions per hour, which is 5 key depressions per word (10,500 ÷ 60 ÷ 35 = 5). Read the full scoring method, including worked examples and how Hindi characters are counted.
